Sex therapy is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy which focuses on the exploration of sexual desires, mis-education about sexuality, and relationship enhancement. Some common goals include abuse/rape survivorship, decreasing shameful sexual messages, overcoming sexual dysfunctions, and improving sexual relationships. Sex therapy never includes touching, being exposed, or participating in sexual acts during session.
